Trump remains in excellent health despite minor swelling and bruising

Investing.com — U.S. President Donald Trump remains in excellent health and is fully fit to perform his duties, according to a medical memo released by the White House on Friday and reported by Reuters.

The memo, written by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella following an examination earlier this week at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, said Trump continues to show strong overall physical and cognitive health.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,” Barbabella wrote.

The evaluation found that the 79-year-old president continues to experience slight lower leg swelling, although the condition has improved from last year.

The physician also noted continued bruising on Trump’s hands, describing it as benign and consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking while taking aspirin for cardiovascular prevention.

Trump visited Walter Reed on Tuesday for his third medical evaluation in the past 13 months. The visit drew attention after previous public appearances showed signs of swollen ankles, bruised hands, and skin discoloration on his neck.

Shortly after the examination, Trump told reporters that “everything checked out perfectly.”

The memo said the president’s cardiac function remains normal and that a comprehensive neurological examination showed normal mental status. The evaluation included screenings for depression and anxiety, with no concerns noted.

Barbabella also outlined recommendations aimed at maintaining the president’s health, including increased physical activity, continued weight loss efforts, dietary guidance, and the use of low-dose aspirin.

The report did not address the treatment Trump received on his neck earlier this year and did not indicate whether he underwent additional MRI testing following a previous scan conducted in October.

Trump, who turns 80 in June, became the oldest person to assume the U.S. presidency. He has frequently contrasted his health and energy levels with those of former President Joe Biden, who left office last year at age 82.

According to the memo, Trump is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 238 pounds. The White House physician concluded that the president remains fully capable of carrying out the responsibilities of commander-in-chief and head of state.
