PTI government plans jobs for ‘climate change migrants’ in Billion Tree Tsunami Project

ISLAMABAD:  Government has said that to support climate change induced migrants amidst the challenging situation of corona virus, they will offer them jobs in Billion Tree Tsunami project under its ‘Green Stimulus’ package.

The plan was announced by National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Climate Change Chairperson Munaza Hassan on Thursday while speaking in an online conversation on ‘Gender and Climate Change’. The conversation was arranged by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI).

This was disclosed by the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Climate Change Chairperson Munaza Hassan on Thursday while speaking in an online dialogue on ‘Gender and Climate Change: Challenges for Climate-Induced Migrants Amid Covid-19’. The dialogue had been organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) on Thursday.

Munazza Hassan claimed part is fully aware of the issues people are facing amidst the pandemic, especially the climate change induced migrant. She further pointed out the steps government is taking to support vulnerable families during the pandemic. The jobs offered in Billion Tsunami Project will also be open to women.
