Taiwan stocks lower at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted down 0.48%

Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Electronic Parts/Components and Plastic sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.48%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were First Steamship Co Ltd (TW:2601), which rose 10.00% or 0.60 points to trade at 6.60 at the close. Meanwhile, FSP Technology Inc (TW:3015) added 10.00% or 6.80 points to end at 74.80 and Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399) was up 10.00% or 5.00 points to 55.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383), which fell 9.95% or 605.00 points to trade at 5,475.00 at the close. Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) declined 9.92% or 0.61 points to end at 5.54 and Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) was down 9.92% or 2.95 points to 26.80.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in FSP Technology Inc (TW:3015) rose to all time highs; rising 10.00% or 6.80 to 74.80. Shares in Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) fell to all time lows; down 9.92% or 0.61 to 5.54. Shares in Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399) rose to all time highs; rising 10.00% or 5.00 to 55.00.

Crude oil for August delivery was up 3.21% or 2.26 to $72.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 3.16% or 2.34 to hit $76.50 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.56% or 23.24 to trade at $4,134.16 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.34% to 32.02, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.52% to 0.21.
